Solares - Cantabria
Discover Solares, Cantabrian town where is Castilla Castilla Spa de Solares. It is located in the region of Transmiera (Medio Cudeyo), just 15 minutes from Santander, capital of Cantabria, and has the privilege of being strategically connected. Its municipal capital is Valdecilla that is urbanly linked to Solares. It is worth mentioning that it is the most important town in Medio Cudeyo, undoubtedly well known for the fame of its mineral waters and the traditional spa activity since the beginning of the 18th century.

Our own spa hotel, is part of the history of the town and is the protagonist of the spa tradition that frames the area, since at the beginning of the twentieth century it was declared as the first thermal station of Cantabria. Enjoy in its interior the waters that emanate from the Spring of Fuencaliente, and also observe the majesty of its architecture since we are before a classic building of the Belle Epoque. - Palacio de Rubalcaba
Built in the second half of the seventeenth century, in typical style of the 17th century mountain palaces, it is a building in which its simplicity and perfectly geometric form stand out. In its facade we must admire the monumental coat of great decorative wealth with the arms of Rubalcaba, lineage to which the palace belonged, supported by lions.
- Finca del Marqués de Valdecilla
As a protagonist among the manor and Indian houses that stand out in the architecture of the area, we find the imposing 19th century Marqués de Valdecilla estate. It has a large natural area of 15 hectares whose garden has centennial oaks and magnolias and six buildings of great uniqueness. - El yacimiento altomedieval de Pico Castillo
It is a high-medieval castle located on the top of a peak, in dominant position. As a curiosity, we can not access the castle through trails, we must do it through the countryside. In this site we find a sample of the Cantabrian history and culture since in its environment various archaeological remains have been found such as ceramics, oysters, bones, etc.
- Ermita de San Pedruco
The chapel, is a building of the late seventeenth century and early eighteenth. Located in a wide field, every year it hosts popular pilgrimages and witnesses the religious traditions of the Medio Cudeyo area.
- Parque Mitológico Mina Pepita
When we talk about the mythological park of Mina Pepita, we refer to an old open-pit mining operation dedicated to iron extraction at the end of the 19th century. This place is a sample of the wide autochthonous vegetation and has ancient trees, laurels, ash trees, holly trees... between dolomite needles lined with moss, we can meet with various Cantabrian mythological beings such as the Mossy or the Ojáncano.
