Routes that alternate between sea and mountain landscapes, abundant forests, green meadows, and vast valleys provide nature lovers with the ideal environment to enjoy the outdoors in unique settings:
- Camino del Norte: crosses Cantabria from east to west, passing through the historic four coastal towns (Castro Urdiales, Laredo, Santander, and San Vicente de la Barquera), as well as many other towns of historical and monumental significance, such as Santoña, Santillana del Mar, or Comillas.
- Other routes:
- The Joyel Marshes Route is one of the most appreciated by bird lovers. In about 40 minutes you will cover 1.5 km to Molino de Santa Olalla and return to Fuente de la Esprilla.
- The Pico Candiano Route (Padiérniga-Candiano-Padiérniga) offers some of the most striking views in the region. It is very easy, and in just over an hour you can sit in the shade of the mountain and enjoy the landscape offered by the coastal strip of the Santoña, Victoria, and Joyel Marshes Natural Park: 7 km in length with a maximum elevation gain of 325 meters.
You should also not forget other unique areas of Cantabria such as the Picos de Europa National Park, its via ferratas, or, on a clear day, you can go to Peña Cabarga and observe Santander from above. A true spectacle.
