THE MUNICIPALITIES THAT FORM MEDIO CUDEYO:
Medio Cudeyo is formed by 10 municipalities: Ánaz, Ceceñas, Heras, Hermosa, San Salvador, San Vitores, Santiago de Cudeyo, Sobre mazas, Solares and Valdecilla- Ánaz: 6 minutes from Solares. Discover the arrival route here.
Located in the most southern area of the municipality, its name derives from the contraction of the words water that is born. You can not miss the old children's school, the Palace and the Torreánaz Estate in neo-Gothic style from the 17th and 18th centuries and its emblematic church of San Juan Bautista.

It was the old capital of the municipality. It has important architectural examples such as the Parish Church of San Vicente del S XVI, the School of the Apostleship of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Baroque houses, the Barrio de la Góndora, the Edilla neighborhood and the SXIX houses.

Account with a Church of the S XVI the one of San Miguel del Arcangel, old medieval monastery. The oldest building in Heras is the defensive tower of Alvarada (Well of Cultural interest), old schools of Heras and houses of Silleria with shields.

In this town we find the so-called Sierra Hermosa, the area of greatest natural and scenic interest. It has numerous paths for hiking and panoramic views of Peña Caberga with the Bay of Santander as a background.

In the past this locality lodged mining facilities related to the exploitation of the iron ore of said geographical elevation. Of its architecture, it is necessary to emphasize the Church of San Justo constructed with the popular advocacy of San Justo on the rest of an old church church that was built in 1695.

It is located in one of the places where the Camino de Santiago passes. Of its religious architecture it is necessary to emphasize the Church of Santiago built at the beginning of s XVII, the popular houses like the Indiana House, the House of the Shell, the House of Santiago, the House of Herrera.

The Church of Santa Catalina, built in the 17th century, stands out in this town. Its civil architecture is represented by rural houses of mountain tradition.

It has a rich sample of popular and monumental architecture, such as the Church of San Esteban, built in the S XVI and reformed during the S XVII. Of its civil patrimony it emphasizes the Solar House of the Cueto, declared well of cultural interest in 1984 and the Casona de Portillo.
- Solares
It is the nucleus that most grown of the municipality of Medio Cudeyo and the most populated, has replaced its traditional agro-industry activity by the industry and tourism and hotel services. Where we will find an important site of the high medieval of Pico Castillo (Well of Cultural Interest), the Palace of the Marquises of Valbuena, the original House of the Ibáñez or the Rubalcaba Palace among others. The only vestige of religious heritage is the Church of San Pedro del S XVII.

The most important patrimonial complex we find is the Finca de los Marqueses de Valdecilla, (declared a Property of Local Interest). It is the most important natural and cultural area of Medio Cudeyo. The 15-hectare estate is a space that has a large garden and six buildings built between the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries to be the residence of Don Ramón Pelayo de Torriente, Marqués de Valdecilla.

Finca del Marqués de Valdecilla a natural space with buildings from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries surrounded by a magnificent garden with numerous century-old botanical species. El Parque Natural del Macizo de Peña de Cabarga that serves as the stage for the entire Bay of Santander. From its vantage point, at 568 meters and one of the most interesting in Cantabria, you can see magnificent views of much of the region, including Santander and its bay. In the installation you can also visit the monument to the Indian or a camera obscura. It is accessed from the town of Heras.
