Thanks to the support of the European Union through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, Castilla Termal Solares has installed a biomass (woodchip) heat production system to replace the existing natural gas boilers.
This project outlines and justifies the implementation of the new external boiler room based on criteria such as ease of operation, cost-efficiency, ease of maintenance, energy savings, and environmental improvement.
Optimal Combustion
This type of combustion is achieved through the control provided by a Lambda sensor. This sensor continuously monitors the exhaust gas values and adjusts both the amount of fuel required and the secondary air supply, ensuring optimal combustion performance.
Automatic Cleaning
The vertical heat exchanger surfaces are cleaned automatically, even while the heating system is in operation, thanks to an integrated cleaning system. The combustion chamber is also cleaned automatically using a vibrating plate. Ash removal from both the boiler module, the heat exchanger module, and the cyclone is carried out automatically with the help of an auger system.
Automatic Regulation with T-CONTROL
An integrated control system within the boiler acts as the central regulation unit. All these improvements enable the boiler to achieve a system efficiency of over 93%. The heat generator complies with current regulations, specifically with instruction IT 1.3.4.1 on heat and cold generation:
It is equipped with a safety device that shuts down the burner in the event of combustion gas backflow.
It includes a shutdown device that prevents temperatures from exceeding the design limits; this device must be manually reset and it meets all specific requirements for heat generators using solid biofuels.
A combustion system shutdown mechanism in case of flame or combustion gas backflow.
A system that prevents the flame from reaching the fuel silo.
A system for dissipating residual heat generated by the biofuel already fed into the boiler when the combustion system is turned off. In this case, the issue is addressed by the installation of a buffer tank (thermal inertia tank).
A safety valve set to open at 1 bar above the boiler’s working pressure, which must discharge into a drain.
