Villa Romana de la Dehesa

Blas Taracena and José Tudela discovered this fantastic archaeological site in 1928, located in the town of Las Cuevas de Soria, just 45 minutes from Castilla Termal Burgo de Osma. The remains of what was once a luxurious country house of nearly 4,000 square meters, built in the mid-4th century, can be seen at this site next to the Izana River.

The house has a rectangular floor plan and is organized around a large central garden with multiple rooms—excavations have uncovered up to 30 rooms—decorated with high-quality materials. It was built with stone and cement, and solid walls have allowed for its magnificent preservation.

The house also included a thermal complex with exterior furnaces for heating the corresponding rooms: frigadarium, tepidarium, and caldarium.

It also had an elongated bathtub decorated with mosaics. The visit takes place from a walkway that allows you to see every corner of La Dehesa in detail. Various workshops and activities related to archaeology and history are also held there regularly. A place that connects us with the past and with the way of life of those who inhabited these lands.
