The Capricho de Gaudí was designed by the architect as a project to build a summer residence for Máximo Díaz de Quijano. The importance of the building resides in the fact that it was one of his first projects. It is now open to visitors and houses a permanent exhibition of the Gaudi's work alongside temporary exhibitions.
Liébana Jubilee Year
The largest piece of the Holy Cross (the Lignum Crucis) is kept here, which has made it a site for pilgrimage since 1512. 2017 is when the 73rd Jubilee Year shall be held. Regarded as an “Event of Exceptional Public Interest”., the ceremony involves opening the Puerta del Perdón of the monastery on 23 to worship the remains of Saint Toribio de Astorga.
